WHY USE 500 SPANISH VIDEOS INSTEAD OF WATCHING MOVIES OR TELEVISION SHOWS?

The secret to developing aural skills is repetition. With 500 Spanish Videos you get short bursts of content which you can easily listen to repeatedly. 165 of the videos are under 30 seconds long. Over 200 are between 30 seconds and a minute. And over 100 are over 1 minute long. (The longest one in the compilation is 3 minutes.) Longer videos, such as movies, may be more entertaining. BONUS 1 – 12 STEP METHOD

When I started working with 500 Spanish Videos, the main purpose was to improve my ability to hear real spoken Spanish. But I was in for a surprise. Not only did that ability improve beyond my wildest dreams, but a side effect is that I speak more like a native Spanish speaker now. When I realized this was an outcome of working with these videos, I decided to fine tune a method to enhance this aspect as well. I call that method the 12-STEP METHOD and I describe it in detail in the instructions manual. The transcripts to 500 videos originally had quite a few errors in them. These transcripts are in Spanish and help you understand what the speaker is saying. Maybe they were around 98% correct in their original form. (See below) I probably got them up to 99.5% correct. As I continue working with the videos and improving my aural skills, I still come across mistakes in the transcriptions. I will be posting all improvements to the transcriptions on a special web page that you will have access to.

After I finished going through the 12-Step Method with each video, I realized that I no longer needed to watch the videos. What I wanted to do was just listen to the audio portion which would help me review what I had learned and reinforce my aural skills. I wanted to be able to mix them in with other Spanish audios that I have collected and which I continually work with, and shuffle them in a playlist. In order to do that, I had to figure out a way to convert the videos into an audio mp3 file. In the process of doing creating these audios, I also improved the sound quality by removing background noises, buzzes, hiss, wind blowing, crowd noise, etc. I also boosted the volume of each audio. The result is over 6 hours of audio content that is easy to listen. The audio quality is superior to that of the videos.
